Smartskate is an initiative of Waterman Sport

Waterman Sport's goal is to help you enjoy skating and rollerblading as much as possible. With high-quality materials, good advice, maintenance and suitable clothing. Waterman Sport is a fourth-generation family business. We focus on the sale, rental and maintenance of skates and inline skates. We offer a wide range of skates: from combi skates, clap skates, short track skates and fixed speed skates to figure skates and hockey skates. Our shops are located at the Jaap Eden Ice Rink in Amsterdam, the Vechtsebanen in Utrecht and at Skipoint in Diemen. Waterman Sport also provides skate hire at both locations. But even outside these ice rinks, you can come to Waterman Sport to hire skating equipment.

History

We have been a leather wholesaler since 1922. Think of belts, buckles and suitcases. But we also made custom shoes. Gradually, the sports branch was added. Our great-grandfather was often asked to make the leather straps for wooden skates. But also to sharpen these skates. So we started to focus more and more on skating.This continued to grow until our focus was solely on sports. Waterman Sport now has one of the largest stocks of skates in the Netherlands.

Expansion into skis and snowboards

We noticed that there was a great need for the maintenance, sale and rental of winter sports equipment. And especially for good advice on winter sports products. Not only ice skates, but also skis and snowboards. That is why our subsidiary opened its doors in October 2000: SkiPoint. Skipoint is located in Diemen and focuses on the sale, rental and maintenance of skis and snowboards and related equipment such as ski boots. We have our own large maintenance centre, where we sharpen and repair skis and snowboards using the latest Wintersteiger equipment.

Our mission

Our mission? To provide you with a carefree winter sports holiday or skating trip. We believe that high-quality skates, skis and snowboards contribute to this. The same applies to good clothing that protects against the cold and snow. High-quality materials alone are not enough. Good maintenance is key to practising the sport safely and with confidence. This increases enjoyment and prevents injuries. But good advice is also essential for a carefree holiday or trip: which skis, snowboard or skates really suit you and your needs?
